Sandy M. Kaplan, Esq., Joins JAMS in San Francisco

Mr. Kaplan brings over four decades of experience representing a broad spectrum of clients in construction- and insurance-related disputes. Mr. Kaplan practiced at Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani from 1982 to 2025. He played a key role in shaping the firm’s construction law practice as a co-chair and founding partner of its Construction Practice Group. Mr. Kaplan’s former practice included the representation of developers, property owners, general contractors, design professionals and subcontractors for both plaintiffs and defendants across commercial and residential projects. He has served as lead counsel in more than 800 mediations and tried over 20 cases. Based in the San Francisco Resolution Center , Mr. Kaplan will serve as a mediator, arbitrator, court-appointed neutral (referee/special master) and neutral evaluator, handling construction defect, construction, engineering, insurance, personal injury, and real estate and real property matters. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally. “Mr. Kaplan has a proven track record having litigated and settled claims just south of a billion dollars throughout his multi-decade career.
